Basketball Recap: Omaha South Comes Up Short

If Omaha South was feeling good fresh off their 77-54 takedown of South Sioux City on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Omaha South Packers had to suffer through an 87-52 loss at the hands of the Westview Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Packers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Wolverines are ranked ninth).

Several Packers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lou Hodoly, who shot 50% from the field en route to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Williams, who posted nine points.

Westview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tayvin Zephier-Murphy led the charge by going 8-for-14 on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Griggs, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 16 points and four steals.

Omaha South has been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 18 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. The victory (which was Westview's third in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Omaha South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westview, they have already played their next game, a 47-45 defeat against Papillion-LaVista on the 3rd.
