Basketball Recap: Northeast's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Northeast was feeling good fresh off their 71-35 takedown of Pinellas Park last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northeast Vikings fell 52-41 to the Gulf Buccaneers on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Northeast saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jy'Aira Washington went 9 for 20 on her way to 21 points. The matchup was Washington's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Geniya Fisher, who posted six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Northeast's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-13. As for Gulf, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Northeast has already played their next game (against Hardee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gulf has already played their next matchup, a 42-32 loss against Wiregrass Ranch on the 29th.
