The Mastery Warrior will challenge the Medford Tech Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Mastery had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Salem County Vo-Tech on Monday. The Warrior were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over Salem County Vo-Tech. The Warrior's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Raul Basilio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Basilio was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derwin Cabrera, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ricardo Basilio, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Mastery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Medford Tech never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Willingboro on Monday. They blew past the Chinmeras 20-9. Considering the Jaguars have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Mastery, Medford Tech also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Inman. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Inman has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Medford Tech: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, Mason Simon was incredible, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Medford Tech is 3-1 when Simon posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. Tyler Dickinson was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
The win got Mastery back to even at 2-2. As for Medford Tech, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mastery has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Medford Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .511. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mastery couldn't quite finish off Medford Tech in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 and fell 9-7. Can the Warrior avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
