Football Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

St. Michael the Archangel extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Luis Tellado. The Guardians breezed past the Hogan Prep Charter Rams to the tune of 72-8 on Saturday for which the team can thank Tellado, who rushed for 77 yards and four scores on only six carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

St. Michael the Archangel's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB nine times. The heavy lifting was done by Lance Barry and Ethan Niewald, who racked up four sacks between them. Barry also made four total tackles, which is notable because St. Michael the Archangel is undefeated when he posts at least four total tackles, but 2-3 otherwise. Mac Vanbebber was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

St. Michael the Archangel's record now sits at 5-3. As for Hogan Prep Charter, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Michael the Archangel will take on Father Tolton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Father Tolton's defense has only allowed 12.8 points per game this season, so St. Michael the Archangel's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Hogan Prep Charter, they will square off against Summit Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
