Basketball Recap: Millard South Wins Going Away Against Omaha North

It was a classic North v. South duel when Millard South duked it out withOmaha North on Friday. The Millard South Patriots blew past the Omaha North Vikings 65-45. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Vikings are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Abbi Durow was her usual excellent self, as she made all 9 shots she took for 23 points. Another player making a difference was Jayla Cleveland, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Millard South was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha North only racked up 11 assists.

Despite the loss, Omaha North still got an impressive performance from Akazja Foster, who went 8 for 12 en route to 17 points. Savannah Houston also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Millard South's record is now 7-4. As for Omaha North, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Millard South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-37 victory against Pius X on the 11th. As for Omaha North, they will square off against Gretna at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Omaha North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
