Bagdad has gone a perfect 4-0 against Desert Heights Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Sultans will head out to square off against the Yote at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Bagdad took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Maryvale Prep get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. Considering the Sultans have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tatum Jeans made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Anna Williams was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Bria Moseley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Bagdad hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maryvale Prep struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Desert Heights Prep got the win against San Pasqual Valley on Tuesday by a conclusive 18-2. The win continues a trend for the Yote in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.
Like Bagdad, Desert Heights Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Nicole Bryan. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Bryan was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Bayli Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Anna Fjell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Bagdad's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Desert Heights Prep, their record now sits at 4-9.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bagdad has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .634. However, it's not like Desert Heights Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .517. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Bagdad's way against Desert Heights Prep when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Bagdad made off with a 20-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sultans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
