Basketball Recap: Midview Comes Up Short

Midview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt an 80-48 loss at the hands of the Avon Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 87-57 back in January.

Several Middies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Jockel, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Young, who posted 11 points.

Midview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Avon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5.

Looking ahead, Midview will take on Elyria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Middies' defense better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 73.1 points per game this season. As for Avon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Steele at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Comets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 67.16 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
