Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Prep Snaps 12-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Pinecrest Prep's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They managed a 50-45 win over the Mater Brickell Academy Bulls. This was a revenge game for the Crocs': when they faced off against the Bulls back in November of 2024, they had to take a 62-57 defeat.

Pinecrest Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriel Guzman out in front who went 8 for 11 on his way to 20 points and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Guzman has scored at least a third of Pinecrest Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Rivero, who posted ten points and four steals.

Guzman wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Pinecrest Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mater Brickell Academy only posted four assists.

Despite the loss, Mater Brickell Academy still got an impressive performance from Antonio Medina, who put up 13 points along with five boards and four steals. Medina has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. David Jimenez was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Pinecrest Prep's win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-13. As for Mater Brickell Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-17.

Pinecrest Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-42 victory against Westland Hialeah on the 28th. Mater Brickell Academy has also already played their next contest, a 66-45 defeat against Coral Park on the 28th.
