Softball Recap: Altha Wildcats vs. Bozeman Bucks

Altha extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 1-16. They came up short against the Bozeman Bucks, falling 21-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 two weeks ago.

Raylee McCrone made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Kaylean Clowes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

As for Bozeman, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Considering they have won 15 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Bozeman's side, Avery Obert tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). Obert has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Presley Thomason and Kinsey Bruhmuller did most of the damage at the plate: Thomason went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Bruhmuller went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Bruhmuller has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Morris, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Altha will challenge St. John Paul II at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. Bozeman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
