The Archbishop McNicholas Rockets will challenge the Chaminade Julienne Catholic Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Archbishop McNicholas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Archbishop McNicholas sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Bishop Brossart. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
The team relied heavily on Lucy Laudeman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Grace Reuss, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Laudeman wasn't the only one making solid contact: Archbishop McNicholas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Rockets are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Chaminade Julienne Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Bishop Fenwick by a score of 8-5.
Aubrey Kolton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 18 batters over nine innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Mariem Mezni was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Calisse Russell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Chaminade Julienne Catholic's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Archbishop McNicholas, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Archbishop McNicholas suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Chaminade Julienne Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
