Softball Recap: Lee Williams Wins Going Away Against Prescott

Lee Williams's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Prescott Badgers as they made off with a 14-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Volunteers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Aivree Austin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sami Marshall, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bills, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Lee Williams kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prescott only managed seven hits.

Lee Williams' record now sits at 6-12. As for Prescott, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lee Williams will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Badgers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
