Basketball Recap: River Ridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Damon Dittmar and Joe Winter

River Ridge lost against Eastland back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The River Ridge Wildcats lost 70-44 to the Eastland Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while the Cougars are ranked 68th).

River Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Joe Winter and Damon Dittmar. Winter went 10 of 20 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds, while Dittmar went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and six boards. Winter's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

River Ridge dropped their record down to 9-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Eastland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Ridge will take on Scales Mound at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eastland, they will challenge Ashton-Franklin Center at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
