Softball Game Preview: Nimitz Vikings vs. MacArthur Cardinals

Nimitz is 8-2 against MacArthur since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Nimitz Vikings will look to defend their home field against the MacArthur Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Nimitz has given up an average of 14.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Nimitz turned things around against MacArthur on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Cardinals as they made off with a 32-13 victory. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Dani Maloney, who scored six runs and stole Seven bases. while getting on base in all seven of her plate appearances. Those six runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Valdelamar, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Nimitz always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .783. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

MacArthur's loss dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for Nimitz, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-10.
