Baseball Recap: Mundelein Drops Season-High Score on Waukegan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mundelein). Everything went their way against the Waukegan Bulldogs on Monday as they made off with a 15-0 win. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Jax Medeiros and Sean Sanderson were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Medeiros pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sanderson struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Medeiros went 1-for-2 with one run and one double, while Sanderson went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave Sanderson a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mundelein got a massive performance out of Zach Perraud, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That hit marked the first that Perraud has got this season. Tony Morano was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mundelein always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mundelein pushed their record up to 19-6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Waukegan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.

Mundelein will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
