Baseball Recap: Oak Grove Beats Leeds for Their Sixth Straight Win

Oak Grove waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Leeds Greenwave by a score of 7-2. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Greenwave walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Oak Grove got a great performance from Brody Black as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Black has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jay Fuller was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Dalton Troncalli, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Oak Grove's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Leeds, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3.

Oak Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-6 victory against McAdory on the 10th. As for Leeds, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Springville on the 11th.
