Softball Recap: Tuckerman Starts Season with Victory at Home

Tuckerman gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against the Wynne Yellowjackets as the Tuckerman Bulldogs made off with a 14-4 victory. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 13-3 win the Yellowjackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Maegan Richardson and Emma Davis made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Richardson tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Davis tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Furthermore, Richardson didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Richardson scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Davis scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Tuckerman let Gracee McGuire and Bristen Wheeler run wild. McGuire went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Wheeler went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Emily Barnett was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Tuckerman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Looking ahead, Tuckerman will face off against South Side at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wynne, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on East Poinsett County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
