Softball Game Preview: Galax Maroon Tide vs. Grayson County Blue Devils

Galax is 2-8 against Grayson County since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maroon Tide will head out to take on the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Galax has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Galax took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over Fort Chiswell. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Maroon Tide as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Maddason Bobbitt was incredible, firing off seven RBI, four runs, and three doubles while going 6-for-6. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Mady Goad was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Galax always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, while it was Grayson County who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was George Wythe who put up more. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Maroons by a score of 2-1.

Grayson County's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Galax, their record is now 4-13.

Galax suffered a grim 18-6 defeat to Grayson County when the teams last played back in April. Can the Maroon Tide avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
