Recap: Picayune Maroon Tide vs. Poplarville Hornets
Even though the Picayune Maroon Tide have not done well against the Poplarville Hornets recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Picayune walked away with a 43-34 victory over Poplarville. This was payback for Picayune, who suffered a 34-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.
When it comes to explaining why Poplarville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tameah Bester. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniriah Galloway, who scored 8 points.
Picayune's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Poplarville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Picayune's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Our Lady Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Poplarville is on the road again on Friday and play against Gautier at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th.
