Preview: Independent vs. Sedgwick
Independent will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Sedgwick at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Independent, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
Last week, Independent couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They suffered a grim 14-36 defeat to Douglass.
Meanwhile, Sedgwick had to kick off their season on the road, but they showed no ill effects. They took the match and then some with a 46-6 win. With Sedgwick ahead 26-0, the game was all but decided by halftime.
Sedgwick's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Independent's loss dropped them down to 0-1. In their victory, Sedgwick relied heavily on senior Hooper Schroeder, who passed for 502 yards and 2 touchdowns; a key strategy for Independent will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
