Basketball Game Preview: Coosa Christian Conquerors vs. Sardis Lions

The Coosa Christian Conquerors will head out on the road to square off against the Sardis Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Coosa Christian is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since December 21, 2024 on Monday. They breezed by West End to the tune of 68-37. The Conquerors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Coosa Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylen Johnson, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 17 points and four steals. The game was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dj Mackey, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Coosa Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sardis ended up a good deal behind Glencoe on Wednesday and lost 94-77. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 99th).

Coosa Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Sardis, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
