Softball Recap: Lake Buena Vista Wins Going Away Against Freedom

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Lake Buena Vista brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Everything went their way against the Freedom Patriots on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vipers, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Allison Curtis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Curtis was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julianys Vega and Aiza Khan did most of the damage at the plate: Vega scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3, while Khan scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Vega has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nohemi Gonzzalez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Lake Buena Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are 9-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win snapped Lake Buena Vista's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-10 record. As for Freedom, their record is now 2-18.

Coming up, Lake Buena Vista will head out on the road to take on Windermere at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vipers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Freedom, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Innovation at 6:00 p.m. The Bulls will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
