Basketball Game Preview: Bulloch Academy Gators vs. Statesboro Blue Devils

The Bulloch Academy Gators will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Statesboro Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

If Bulloch Academy beats Statesboro with 61 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Bulloch Academy came out on top against First Presbyterian Day by a score of 61-54 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Meanwhile, Statesboro waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Spartans 67-28. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 29 points or more this season.

Statesboro found their leader in sophomore Devin Mikell, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dartavian (DJ) Brown, who posted eight points and three steals.

Statesboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Bulloch Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Statesboro, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
