Football Recap: Yucca Valley Falls Despite Big Games from Ian Jarrett and Clyde King

After flying high against Cathedral City last Thursday, Yucca Valley came back down to earth. The Trojans fell 28-21 to the Chaffey Tigers on Friday. The Trojans lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 45-16 score last time.

Clyde King and Ian Jarrett certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. King rushed for 114 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, while Jarrett picked up 123 receiving yards and one TD. Jarrett's longest reception was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

The critical scores for Chaffey came from Justin Alcantara, Carlos Vasquez, and Andrew Rodriguez.

Yucca Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Chaffey, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yucca Valley will face off against Xavier Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Trojans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Chaffey, they will head out to challenge Victor Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense better be ready for this one: the Jackrabbits have averaged an impressive 43.5 points per game this season.
