Basketball Game Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Monarch Coyotes

The Fairview Knights will head out to take on the Monarch Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fairview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Fairview is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Skyline to the tune of 72-39 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Knights have posted since December 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monarch, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 70-57 victory over Niwot on Tuesday. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Cougars are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairview better keep an eye on Dylan Ehrnstrom. He was instrumental in Monarch's win, going 9 for 14 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ehrnstrom a new career-high in field goal percentage (64%). Logan Laverty was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points along with five assists and five boards.

Fairview is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Monarch, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Fairview suffered a grim 64-41 defeat to Monarch in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Fairview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
