Softball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ridgevue on Tuesday, Meridian came back down to earth. The Warriors came up short against the Owyhee Storm on Thursday, falling 21-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 17-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Alexia Flygare was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maggie Diffin, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Owyhee, the win keeps they at an undefeated 18-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will host Eagle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Owyhee, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Capital at 6:00 p.m. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.68 runs per game on average), something the Storm will no doubt try to take advantage of.
