Basketball Recap: Benicia Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for Benicia, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took down the Campolindo Cougars 57-43 on Thursday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Cougars are ranked 101st).

Benicia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackdan Eyike led the charge by putting up nine points and six boards. AJ Ocsona was another key player, scoring eight points.

Campolindo's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Devine, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Rendle, who posted eight points and three steals.

Benicia is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Campolindo, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.

Benicia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-51 defeat against Acalanes on the 1st. As for Campolindo, they have also already played their next contest, a 62-53 victory against St. Mary's on the 1st.
