Softball Recap: Marina Wins Going Away Against Santa Catalina

Marina won the last time they faced Santa Catalina and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mariners were the clear victors by a 17-8 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Mariners have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Marina got a massive performance out of BAILEY HOSTETTER, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave HOSTETTER a new career-high. AUNDREA MORENO was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Marina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Marina has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Santa Catalina, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Marina will venture away from home to take on Soledad at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Aztecs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.27 runs per game on average), something the Mariners will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Santa Catalina, they will challenge St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
