Softball Recap: Delta Bobcats vs. Leopold Wildcats
Delta extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-10. They lost 9-1 to the Leopold Wildcats. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
As for Leopold, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-6-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Leopold's part, Ashtyn Van De Ven was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Van De Ven posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Piper Lincoln was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Malia VanderMierden, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delta will host Bernie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Leopold, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Pemiscot at 4:30 p.m. on May 4.
