Softball Recap: South Central Wins Going Away Against Crothersville

South Central got themselves on the board against Crothersville on Wednesday, but Crothersville never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 11-0. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

Gracie Haag and Addison Stepro made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Haag tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Stepro struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Haag has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Haag went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Stepro went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most runs Haag has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Isla Schweitzer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Brown, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crothersville only posted a batting average of .062.

South Central's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-8. As for Crothersville, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, South Central will venture away from home to take on Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Crothersville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Henryville at 5:30 p.m.
