Baseball Recap: Crete Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Crete's offense. They fell just short of the Waverly Vikings by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Crete saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Piening, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Crete's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Waverly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Looking ahead, Crete will square off against Columbus at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Discoverers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Waverly, they will face off against Creighton Prep at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
