Softball Recap: Avoyelles Charter Triumphs

While Avoyelles Charter's win against Monterey wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Wolves 7-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-4 back in March.

Lillyan Dauzat tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

On the hitting side, Lily Rousseau was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Janiya Heath was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Avoyelles Charter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Monterey, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avoyelles Charter will take on Montgomery at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monterey, they will square off against Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
