Recap: Dobie Longhorns vs. Pasadena Memorial Mavericks
The Dobie Longhorns lost against the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Dobie took a hard 54-39 fall against Pasadena Memorial. While losing is never fun, Dobie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 941st, while Pasadena Memorial is ranked 462nd).
Pasadena Memorial had a senior duo take command as Gwendlyn Mcgrew scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals and Natalie Pineda scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Mcgrew has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassandra Perez, who scored no points along with seven blocks and six rebounds.
Dobie has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for Pasadena Memorial, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-11.
Dobie will head out on the road to challenge Channelview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Channelview has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Pasadena Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Deer Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Park is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
