If Winchester Community wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Blackford, they should've done a better job of containing Gage Baker. The Blackford Bruins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over the Winchester Community Golden Falcons on Saturday thanks in part to Baker, who went 8 for 18 en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and three blocks. That's the most blocks he has posted since back in February of 2024.
Several Golden Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Baldwin, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Baldwin is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Campbell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.
The victory made it two in a row for Blackford and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for Winchester Community, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.
Blackford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-56 win against Frankton on the 24th. As for Winchester Community, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 71-40 loss against Liberty Christian on the 24th.
