Basketball Recap: School of the Woods Comes Up Short

After soaring to 70 points the game before, School of the Woods was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 23-22 to Cornerstone Christian Academy. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why School of the Woods lost, don't look at Tyler Gwinn. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Gwinn continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieran Knight, who posted six points and three steals.

School of the Woods' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 26-5. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats challenge the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. School of the Woods is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season. Cornerstone Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
