The Bonita Vista Barons will take on the Patrick Henry Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bonita Vista has nine straight wins, Patrick Henry has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Last Thursday, Bonita Vista didn't have too much trouble with Otay Ranch as they won 61-42. Given the Barons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Mustangs are ranked 747th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aaron Owens was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. His evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Diaz, who went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points.
Meanwhile, Patrick Henry ended up a good deal behind San Diego on Thursday and lost 50-35.
Bonita Vista will have to contain Deshawn Jones Jr. as he made an impact in Patrick Henry's last game. He went 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Tabar, who posted five points.
Bonita Vista pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points over those games. As for Patrick Henry, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-19.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bonita Vista has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Patrick Henry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Bonita Vista against Patrick Henry in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, as the team secured a 64-36 win. Will Bonita Vista repeat their success, or does Patrick Henry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
