Baseball Game Preview: Dracut Middies vs. Chelmsford Lions

The Dracut Middies will face off against the Chelmsford Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Thursday, Dracut didn't have quite enough to beat Central Catholic and fell 4-3. The Middies haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Chelmsford sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Haverhill on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Jason Bilo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Keegan Briere and Jack Keyo did most of the damage at the plate: Briere went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Keyo went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Matthew Hall was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Chelmsford's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Dracut, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Dracut might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from Chelmsford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Middies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
