League recap: Chariho falls to upstart Mt. Hope

Mt. Hope scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Chariho, 27-7. At the time, the Chargers was ranked 14th in the state, while the Huskies was 33rd.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mt. Hope, who took down 14th ranked Chariho, 27-7.

Mike Kelly's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hayden Pryor threw for 40 yards and Nick Ciringione had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Austin McQuaide chipped in 100 yards. Mike Pagliarini helped Chariho's passing attack out by catching one ball for 11 yards.

On the ground, the Chargers' McQuaide has rushed for 503 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Pagliarini. The Chariho star has seven catches for 69 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Woonsocket and the Huskies. The Villa Novans enters the contest ranked 12th in the state, while Mt. Hope ranks 25th.

Next week's game between Warwick Veterans and Chariho will feature a tantalizing aerial matchup as Jesse Sedoma tests his arm against Pryor's defensive ability. For the year, the Hurricanes' Sedoma has managed 136 yards and four touchdowns, while Pryor has two interceptions for the Chargers.

There should be lots of points scored when Warwick Veterans and Chariho face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Michael Nappa's team comes in having scored 70 this season, while the Chargers have scored 60. The Hurricanes scored 8 points last week as they lost to Coventry.

Chariho suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 27-7 loss to the Huskies. The Chargers had been ranked 14th, but fell to 26 following the defeat.
