Basketball Recap: Ivy Henderson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crown Point over Hammond Central

Crown Point and Hammond Central squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Crown Point had to settle for second. They fell 45-34 to the Hammond Central Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-45 back in November of 2024.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ivy Henderson, who went 6-for-9 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. Ava Richie was another key player, going 6-for-14 en route to 16 points and five boards.

Hammond Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ciyah Thomas led the charge by going 9-for-16 to rack up 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Thomas is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Indiah Hutchinson, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 14 points and six boards.

Crown Point has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Hammond Central, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.

Crown Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hammond Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-51 victory against Hammond Morton on the 7th.
