Preview: Loyalsock Township Lancers vs. Danville Ironmen
Loyalsock Township has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Danville Ironmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Loyalsock Township walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Warrior Run 41-13 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Loyalsock Township just coasted through the last quarter.
Tyler Gee was his usual excellent self, throwing for 245 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Gee hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Jaylen Andrews made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Warrior Run to a paltry 197 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Loyalsock Township's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out four times before it was all said and done. Warrior Run's QB won't forget Isaiah West anytime soon given West sacked him three times.
Meanwhile, Danville entered their tilt with Lewisburg with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Danville claimed a resounding 42-3 win over Lewisburg at home. Given Danville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Lewisburg is ranked 236th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madden Patrick and Aaron Johnson were among the main playmakers for Danville as the former threw for 401 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes and the latter picked up 234 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Johnson's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. Bo Sheptock was another key contributor, rushing for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
Loyalsock Township is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Danville, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record.
Loyalsock Township couldn't quite finish off Danville in their previous matchup back in September and fell 28-25. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Danville's Johnson, who picked up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
