Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Fighting Zebras vs. Colfax Falcons

The Lincoln Fighting Zebras will head out to challenge the Colfax Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lincoln is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Mira Loma: they outscored them in every quarter. Lincoln put the hurt on Mira Loma with a sharp 54-28 victory on Friday.

It was another big night for Michael Neely, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 18 points and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Nisi, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Colfax waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 69-16 win over the Pirates. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Pirates are ranked 1115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colfax's record now sits at 12-4. As for Lincoln, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 11-5.

Lincoln lost to Colfax on the road by a decisive 68-53 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2018. Can Lincoln avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
