Baseball Recap: Bluffton Tigers vs. Eastbrook Panthers

Bluffton and Eastbrook squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Bluffton had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eastbrook Panthers by a score of 10-9. Bluffton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastbrook apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on May 6th.

Brody Lewis and Axton Beste stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lewis scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Beste went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Easton Blair was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

On Eastbrook's side, Malakai Luthy was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Luthy has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Hodson, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bluffton's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Eastbrook, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season.

Bluffton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eastbrook, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Westview. Westview will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Eastbrook surely won't give up without a fight.
