Football Game Preview: Sterling Tigers vs. The Academy Wildcats

For the first time this season, Sterling will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against The Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sterling has given up an average of 29.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sterling is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games last Friday. They lost 42-21 to Platte Valley.

Sterling might have lost, but man, Braydon Evans was a machine: he rushed for 88 yards and one TD on only seven carries. Memphis Dempcy was in the mix too, providing the Tigers with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for The Academy after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Skyview who ended up claiming the real prize. The Wildcats fell 24-14 to the Wolverines. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 7-0 in the first quarter.

Sterling's record now sits at 1-3. As for The Academy, their record is now an identical 1-3.

Everything went Sterling's way against The Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Sterling made off with a 33-10 victory. In that game, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 26-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
