Baseball Game Preview: Wisdom Pioneers vs. Hodgdon Hawks

The Wisdom Pioneers will challenge the Hodgdon Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wisdom is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Wisdom came up short against Madawaska and fell 6-3.

Kamden Daigle was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Hodgdon challenged Madawaska on Wednesday. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Owls 2-1. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Owls on their field since June 10, 2021.

Hodgdon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Henderson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hodgdon is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wisdom, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wisdom has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Hodgdon struggles in that department as they've averaged .477. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Wisdom couldn't quite finish off Hodgdon in their previous meeting back in May and fell 7-5. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
