Preview: Orange Park Raiders vs. Hawthorne Hornets
The Orange Park Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawthorne Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Orange Park has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Hawthorne will arrive with seven straight victories.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Orange Park, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-49 loss to Ponte Vedra.
Despite their defeat, Orange Park saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Autumn Nesmith, who scored 16 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nesmith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Piera Alexander, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Hawthorne's game on Friday was all tied up 12-12 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 33-32 win over Gainesville.
Orange Park has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Hawthorne, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
