Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Mt. Vernon's Winning Streak

Mt. Vernon lost against Hayes back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hayes Pacers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Yellowjackets came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Pacers are ranked 406th).

With the defeat, Mt. Vernon broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2. As for Hayes, they moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Mt. Vernon will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marion Harding at 11:45 p.m. As for Hayes, they will head out to take on Pickerington North at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
