Volleyball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Shullsburg Miners. If the Ponies were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Miners when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Shullsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabelle Wiegel, who had 14 digs and three assists. Wiegel has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Shullsburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Monticello has already played their next contest (against Boscobel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Shullsburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Wisconsin Heights on the 27th.
