Basketball Recap: McCormick Comes Up Short

After flying high against Whitmire last Friday, McCormick came back down to earth. The McCormick Chiefs fell just short of the Dixie Hornets by a score of 58-56 on Friday. The Chiefs were up 25-10 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Dixie got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kerrie O'Shields out in front who posted 26 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Jaylia Turner was another key player, putting up 18 points.

McCormick's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Dixie, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCormick has already played their next game (against Ware Shoals), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dixie has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Calhoun Falls Charter.
