Basketball Preview: Lakeside Knights vs. Clark Fork Wampus Cats
Lakeside is 10-0 against the Wampus Cats since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Lakeside Knights will be playing at home against the Clark Fork Wampus Cats at 5:30 p.m. Lakeside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 games -- so hopefully the Wampus Cats like a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lakeside gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Wallace, posting a 81-25 win at home. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Miners are ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyson Charley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. Charley is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brutis Sijohn, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Clark Fork put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 73-35 win over Kootenai. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Clark Fork.
Lakeside's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Clark Fork, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Lakeside against the Wampus Cats in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 105-52 win. With Lakeside ahead 56-27 at the half, the game was all but over already.
