Football Recap: Snyder Tigers vs. Levelland Lobos
Snyder was the 30-0 winner over Levelland when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Snyder Tigers were dealt a 55-21 loss at the hands of the Levelland Lobos on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered against the Lobos since September 23, 2016.
Despite the loss, Snyder still got an impressive performance from Jacob James, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Snyder also got a significant boost from Daenin Smith, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 113 yards.
Snyder didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ethan Rios and James. What's more, Rios also racked up 13 rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in September of 2023.
Levelland found their leader in underclassman Noah Martin, who rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Those 177 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Martin. Eryk Jones was another key pass catcher, picking up 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Snyder is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Levelland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Snyder will square off against Monahans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Levelland, they will face off against Estacado at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Levelland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 33.5 points per game this season.
