Two dominant signal callers in Brady Barrier and James 'Jimmy' Haren are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Barbers Hill Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Waltrip Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 959 yards in their previous games.
Waltrip will be up against a hot Barbers Hill team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles came out on top against West Brook by a score of 32-21 on Friday.
Tripp Davis was his usual excellent self, picking up 217 receiving yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 32 yards. His longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards. Miles Spurlock helped out on the ground, rushing for 101 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Barbers Hill's defense and their seven sacks. It was truly a group effort as Tate Hollingsworth, Andrew Burns, and Carson Hahn picked up two apiece. Hollingsworth also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Barbers Hill got some further help from Kross Kilgo: he made 18 total tackles.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Waltrip, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 45-14 victory over Sterling. Considering the Rams have won five games by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Barbers Hill better keep an eye on Zyon Gamble. He was instrumental in Waltrip's win, rushing for 189 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Those 189 rushing yards gave Gamble a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dere'Yon Bush, who rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Waltrip was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 180 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Waltrip, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Lil Eric Norris, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Barbers Hill's record now sits at 7-3. As for Waltrip, their record is now an identical 7-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Barbers Hill has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Waltrip struggles in that department as they've been averaging 189.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
